Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez (June 6, 1599 – August 6, 1660) was a Spanish painter who was Born in Seville, Andalusia, Spain early on June 6, 1599, and baptized on June 6.
The leading artist in the court of King Philip IV was an artist of great importance to the contemporary baroque period, as a portrait artist. He painted scores of portraits of the Spanish royal family, other notable European figures, and commoners, culminating in the production of his masterpiece Las Meninas (1656).

In “Las Meninas” one of the infantas, Margarita, the eldest daughter of the new Queen, appears to be subject of Las Meninas(1656, English: The Maids of Honour), Velázquez's magnum opus. However, in looking at the various viewpoints of the painting it is unclear as to who or what is the true subject.

Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali was born in Spain in 1904. When he was a child, he showed strange behaviour and often interrupted his class in school. As he got older, he started to paint pictures that came from his dreams. His dreams and his paintings were scary and unreal.
Dali went to an art school in Madrid, Spain. He got kicked out, and never finished. He even spent time in jail. However, he continued to paint, and his art style became known as
Surrealism. Salvador Dali drew everyday items, but changed them in odd ways. For example, one of his paintings is of melting clocks.
Before he died at the age of 85 in 1989, Dali had created works in film, ballet, opera, fashion, jewellery, and advertising illustrations.

Gala of the spheres

Last weekend at Qw!

On Saturday, we went to Madame Tussauds. It was the best thing of the weekend! We really enjoyed it because we could take photos with "celebrities" that we like a lot. There were very good and they were made of wax. The best thing was the Horror part!!! It was so scary but we had fun. We hope we will repeat it!

Excursion to HMS Belfast

We went out of Queenswood at 9am. When we arrived, we went for a walk with the same guide as the other excursion to London. He showed us places that were related to the Great Fire of London and the Black Death... He was always saying "COME CLOSER" haha, it was so funny! We took some photos near the London Bridge! It was raining, so we had to carry umbrellas and wear raincoats.

Then we went to have lunch in Starbucks. When we were having lunch, we gave to MARIA & EDU (the canary twins) their birthday present, they like it a lot! After lunch, we went to the HMS Belfast, in which there was a bad smell! =P Also, we took some photos there. There were nine decks connected by very steep stairs, they were very scary! haha... We came back to Queenswood by bus, in that way back Carmen and Gema nearly exploded! Because we needed a wee!!!

At night, we made a surprise party for the twins in "Pizza hut", that was nice!

Weekend!!

Friday:

After dinner, we had a different and special assembly in the theatre, where we watched the drama workshop performing a horror play. They were singing all the time UUUUUUH...AAAAAAAH... It was quite fun! After another performance, Romeo and Juliet, we went to the activities. We watched "Pretty woman", but we couldn't finish it, because we didn't have enough time.

Saturday:

We woke up later than usual. We prepared everything for the excursion and we went to Cambrigde. We had free time there, so we went shopping. We went to some shops we don't have in Spain, like Gap, Topshop, Jack Wills, New Look... We bought Cambridge hoodies, bracelets from Accesorize, nail polish from Claire's, a scarf from H&M... Later, we had lunch at McDonalds. Then we went back to the buses, and to Queenswood. We got dressed up, we put on make up, we straightened our hair, we did our nails, etc. And we went to the DISCO, Belen was wearing white jeans, a brown top and brown sandals; Carmen was wearing white jeans, a grey top and grey heels; Gema was wearing black jeans, a white top, a pink jumper and black and pink heels. We were GORGEOUS!! We danced a lot in the disco, although at the begining no one wanted to dance, but when we arrived everything changed! We made the party more fun! We would have changed the music if we could, because it wasn't up-to-date.

Sunday:

We didn't go to "Thorpe Park", because of the rain and the queues. We had activities: softball, tennis and art. It was a long day, but we had a lot of free time, so we could relax.

1st excursion to London

We had our first excursion to London!!! But we didn't go shopping... =( First, we went with a guide to see the scariest places in London. He told us some stories, like: Protestans hanging, drawing and quartering a monk (poor monk). After, we went to the bus to have lunch there, and we went to the Tower of London. There, we had free time, and we saw "Jewel house" the jewellery were incredible! Also, we saw the soldiers marching and changing. Then, we had to go back to the bus. Finally, after a long and tiring journey, we arrived to the school. Later, we had the same dinner as always. We went to the computer room and we spent over two hours there. We had a LITTLE BIT of free time. We went to the room to have shower, and we went to bed.
When we went to bed someone got lost! The houseparents didn't know where she was. In the end, she was in her friend's room, and she was PUNISHED.
